Laser Hair Removal

Does waxing, shaving, plucking, and threading irritate you? Do you want a permanent solution to this endless and time-consuming process of hair removal?

Well, laser hair removal is an option worth considering. This revolutionary treatment gives you freedom from unwanted hair permanently.

Laser hair removal uses a highly concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair. The pigment absorbs the light in the hair follicle, thereby damaging or destroying the hair follicle.

No doubt the treatment sounds a little daunting. But we at Reniu Clinic have the most advanced laser technology that allows safe and effective treatment for all skin types.

Before starting laser hair removal treatment, there are a few things that you should know.

1. Don’t dye, pluck, or wax the hair.

Avoid bleaching, threading, plucking, and waxing your hair at least four weeks before your first session.

Keep on hold any routine that involves removing the hair from the roots as the laser needs to identify the follicles.

2. Shave the treatment area beforehand.

You will have to shave the treatment area at least 12-14 hours before the treatment. Use a sharp razor for a clean shave as we do not want the laser to target longer hair that shows above the skin. It may cause burns.

Apart from this, the treatment area has to be absolutely free from sunscreen, makeup, and deodorant.

3. Avoid sun exposure.

It is crucial to keep the treatment area out of the sun for at least two weeks before the treatment. Be sure to use sunscreen or keep the area covered to prevent tanning or sunburn.

We will have to reschedule your appointment if you are sun-exposed, as the laser will sizzle any pigment on the skin.

4. You cannot do it over tattoos.

Yes, it’s true. Laser hair removal cannot be done over tattoos. During treatment, we will cover the tattoo and only treat the surrounding area.

5. It’s not that painful.

For most people, laser hair removal is not that painful, especially on your hands and legs. However, you might feel a sharp, quick prickle on more sensitive areas like the underarms or bikini area.

6. Use prescribed products.

The skin may appear red after treatment, but it usually fades away within a few hours. A cold compress and prescribed creams help to ease the swelling and discomfort. Stay out of the sun as the skin will be sensitive to it for 48 hours after treatment.

7. Avoid hot showers and exercise after treatment.

It is essential to avoid hot baths and showers as they may increase your body temperature leading to irritation.

Also, stay away from exercise and saunas as they will make you hot and sweaty and create a potential breeding ground for bacteria.

Try and keep the treated area cool and hydrated by applying the recommended creams or taking a cool shower to soothe the skin.

8. It takes time for the results to show.

After one appointment, you may see the hair growth slow down considerably. The dead hair will fall off, and finer hair will replace it. But it will surely take more than one session to see phenomenal results.

Having realistic expectations help. No clinic can assure 100% hair removal as some hair will grow back. It can be due to hormones or other biological factors. But don’t worry, as it can be taken care of with follow-up treatments.

9. It’s all about consistency.

Keep up with your appointments for the best results. The timing of treatments greatly impacts the outcome as your hair follicles are at different stages of growth.
